Reading a record into a dataset from a text file
I am fairly new to VBA and have been trying to find a solution to this problem for some time now.
I have a csv file in which there are 5 columns. I would like to extract the data from the first column and have it placed into a new dataset.
I have tried using the following code:
Sub Open_csv_File()
Open ("C:\Users\Admin\Documents\test.csv")
End Sub
I have tried many variations of the following code:
Sub Extract_Data()
Dim fileInp As Variant
fileInp = Range("D1").Value
Range("D2").Value = fileInp
End Sub
I have also tried creating a new sheet and copying and pasting data using
Range("D2").Value = Worksheets("Sheet3").Range("D2").Value
Any help is much appreciated.
